The Story of Noddy

Mk I 1959 Austin Healey Sprite YHAN1 8/24904 564 build SP/118

Welcome!

Noddy on the final corner at Oran Park

Noddy is the Mk I 1959 Austin Healey "Bugeye" Sprite which I've restored with the help of of Sprite Parts, Sydney.

My love affair with Sprites began with a rusty Mk III that I bought in February 2000. Sine then the relationship has developed into the restoration of this Mk I Bugeye with a rebuilt A series engine, the "running gear" of the original Mk III Sprite, and a healthy dose of brand new parts and modifications. To me (and maybe me alone) it's still a Bugeye, but I think I've made the most of the entire marque in its rebuild.

Select a link to the left to see photos or read about the restoration, and some of it's adventures since.

Some of the ideas Colin and I have come up with during this restoration you may find useful. Let me know if you come up with any new ones!

John
